This week our Camperos learned of Rosie Reveer, a young engineer who loves to learn about all engines that take flight! We learned the history of Harriett Quimby and Amelia Earhart and engineered our own aircrafts, hovercrafts, rubber band helicopters and launched rockets of our very own! Rosie also loves creating gadgets and gizmos, and we followed in her footsteps manipulating pulley systems, building foil floating boats and balloon powered vehicles. We learned from Rosie to persevere through all of the challenges we face and the importance of never giving up on our goals!
Along with our field trip to the Rockville Swim Center, we participated in an Egg Drop Challenge while working in teams to see who could construct a structure to safely drop an egg without cracking and engineered Rube Goldberg machines to complete simple tasks. We also hosted an in-house field trip, where we designed marble run mazes and launched marshmallows with catapults! Next week we will learn of Iggy Peck, Architect and work to enhance our architectural skill set building newspaper constructions, water slide structures, bridges and more!
