Hola! My name is Claudia Miranda, and I am the Sweetpeas teacher at WKA! I have always been interested in education. I pursued my degree in History at UMBC, knowing it would help me in my goal of wanting to teach at the elementary level of education. With that degree, I also wanted to travel the world teaching English, particularly in South Korea, since I took several years of Korean. I have continuously worked with children for the past five years, from tutoring at the elementary school level to nannying to joining Mad Science. I want to continue to pursue my education in Early Childhood Development, so I can be more beneficial to the children I am helping to teach. Being able to provide children with the skills they need in life to succeed in everything they do, is so rewarding, not only as a teacher, but as a person. I look forward to being a part of Whole Kids Academy!
I am a first generation American. My family comes from El Salvador, and I have had the pleasure of visiting it many times! I have lived in Maryland all my life, close to DC. In my spare time I love reading, drawing, sculpting, painting and traveling as much as possible. I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy learning new languages and continue on my goal to learn more as I help the students of WKA learn Spanish from me! As someone who grew up in a Spanish speaking home, it fills me with so much excitement and happiness to know I am helping to teach something that defines me as a person. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us here at WKA!
