My name is Martha Cruz! I was born in the city of Bogotá, Colombia and I grew up as the third of six siblings. In school I had a great time, I liked math and everything related to arts and crafts. I finished high school in 1982 and after a while I went to study at Instituto Colombiano de Aprendizaje (INCAP) and finished with an Associate’s Degree in preschool education. After doing my practice hours I stayed working at the Gimnasio de los Canguritos preschool. I worked there for three years with the 1 to 2 year olds; it was a very beautiful experience that taught me perseverance and helped me develop a passion for teaching.
I later worked at a foster care agency in Colombia, Asociación Amigos del Niño Ayudame in which I was part of the administrative staff supporting the children and the staff with every day needs. When I moved to the US, I worked as a babysitter with various families and at different child care centers in classrooms of various ages. Every single one of these experiences has been extremely rewarding and I am looking forward of being part of the WKA family!
