What's Happening At WKA

WKA is Full of Artists

During the month of May, we focus on art in many of our classes. nyerőgépes játékok online ingyen   Our early preschool, preschool, and pre-K classes are all learning about art through the Famous Artist study, which is their theme this month. Each age group has different artists and styles of art they learn about during this study. gaminator letöltés

Early preschool spends this study learning about Georges Seurat, Paul Klee, and Hanoch Piven.  They have been busy this week making their very own caricatures modeled after Piven’s work.  They used yarn for hair, pom-poms or buttons for eyes, and pipe cleaners and uncooked pasta for their mouths.  This was a great opportunity for the early preschool teachers to integrate social emotional skills into their lesson as they discussed the children’s emotions while creating their face and expression.

Preschoolers learn about Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, and Michelangelo.  Our Explorers and Sprouts have been channeling their inner Michelangelo this week as they made their own sculptures using clay.  The children were so creative, making ornaments and even jewelry boxes.

Our pre-K classes are spending time this study preparing beautiful artwork, which will be on display at their graduation.  Each week they are creating a piece modeled after a famous artist to be showcased in July! ingyenes online nyerőgépes játékok  They are learning about Alexander Calder, Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Monet, and Van Gogh. They kicked off their study with making sculptures modeled after Alexander Calder’s work.

Our infants and toddlers may not have a designated study, but they are always immersed in the world of art in their classrooms.  The messier, the better!   One of our favorite things to do for art in our infant and toddler classes is to bring nature into the classroom and use items such as sticks, grass, or dirt as part of our artwork!  Our babies really enjoyed stomping and sitting on bubble wrap that had a canvas and paint beneath it.  They loved the popping sound and feeling, while also creating beautiful art!  Our toddlers are learning all about the colors of the rainbow and creating beautiful works of art using papier-mâché, glue, paint, and crayons!
