March is National Reading Month and the Early Preschool classes are celebrating by participating in an author study! They have been thoroughly enjoying their study of Eric Carle. His stories have lots of repetition and rhymes that help the children stay engaged and captivated. There are always so many opportunities for play-based learning in our studies and the Eric Carle study is no exception. In order to immerse the early preschoolers in the study, the classrooms have been temporarily transformed. The dramatic play center is now a mini garden center representing the books The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Busy Spider, and The Grouchy Ladybug. The center is filled with play trees, caterpillars, cocoons, spiders, and butterflies. The children spend their time using garden buckets and shovels. Their imagination adds so much to the center too.
One of their favorite activities in the study was feeding a giant caterpillar outside. tippmix sportfogadás The caterpillar was a play tunnel and the teachers attached a cardboard caterpillar face to the front. The children would throw balls into the caterpillar’s mouth. In addition to gross motor activities, the classes are also placing an emphasis on fine motor activities. The children are developing so much at their age. The Sunflowers and Ladybugs used play dough to make caterpillars and spiders. They had to make tiny arms, legs, and bodies for them. nyerőgépes játékok kockás letöltés ingyen
After reading A House for a Hermit Crab, the children got to dance like a crab around their classroom and outdoors as well. They had all sorts of fun stomping, jumping, clapping, and singing along. Both classes also have the opportunity to host a real hermit crab in their classroom! mobil kaszinó online They were thrilled to adopt their new pet. He was welcomed with a dance party, of course. We are especially proud of our Sunflowers and Ladybugs and their social emotional growth, Spanish vocabulary acquisition, and reading stamina that has increased with this study.
