This October, our Pre-K classes are examining seeds. From how they grow, to where they come from, our kiddos get to observe the process at every step. One activity had our children pulling apart fruit to see the seeds inside, and learn about the different shapes and sizes from the different fruits. Another activity had them wrap a plastic bag around a branch, to show that leaves aspirate just like we do! The plastic bag becomes full of condensation after about an hour, and then it’s removed as to not hurt the plant.
Children also have their own garden box in the classroom to take care of. The sensory bin is full of dirt and live worms, and the children have the opportunity to hydrate the dirt, play with the worms, and use the dirt in various activities to learn how seeds grow into fully formed plants!
