Carmen Fernandez

Teacher

Carmen is  originally from Paraguay but has been living in the United States for several years. Carmen has always had a passion for all things art – music, painting, ballet, and architecture. She studied architecture for three years before moving to the United States. After taking care of her two daughters for several years, she discovered her love for working with children. She then attended Montgomery College and graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts in Art Education and an Associate of Art in Early Childhood Education. She is currently working to obtain her bachelor’s degree in both areas. As a preschool teacher with a love for the arts, she loves encouraging children to be creative and having the opportunity to show them what art can signify in their lives. Carmen believes that each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world and hopes to help her students reach their full potential! Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and little dog, cooking and trying new foods, and being in nature.

Carmen joined WKA in 2015 and shares that in addition to connecting with the children, she loves the family-like environment and opportunities for growth that our school provides.
